An Urban Refuge

Fo Guang Shan Mabuhay Temple is the main branch temple of Fo Guang Shan in the Philippines. It is a modern Buddhist temple that offers facilities and activities meant to nourish both the mind and the body. The temple is located at 656 Pablo Ocampo St., (formerly Vito Cruz St.) Malate, Manila, right across Century Park Hotel. It is open every day, except Mondays, from 9 am to 8 pm.

Wisdom & Cultivation

Held every fourth Sunday of the month from 9:00 am to 11:30 am, the activities include an English Dharma Service with a Dharma talk and a Ch’an meditation session. Both activities are led by resident monastics of FGS Mabuhay Temple.

The second Sunday of every month will soon be devoted to mind-body practices such as yoga, tai-chi and Sutra calligraphy; classes in Humanistic Buddhism to be facilitated by a monastic; and Dharma Cinema Circle.

One Truth for All

Venerable Master Hsing Yun, the founder of Fo Guang Shan, believes that there is “one truth for all” and that truth is the wisdom that underlies the law of causes, conditions and effects, as well as the concepts of emptiness and dependent origination. So even though the speeches and writings of the Venerable Master may take on different themes, they convey messages that are applicable across all time and space and they hold the answers to the needs of all human beings.
